Annual Letters from Santa Fundraiser [17 Nov 2006|10:28am]

whimbley
Well, the holidays shall soon be upon us, and the Silver Spring ZTA Alumnae group is once again doing "Letters from Santa."

Letters from SANTA CLAUS
mailed from the North Pole!

You can give your child magical memories with a personalized letter from Santa Claus!   Your child will receive a letter from Santa himself, writing to say how proud he is of all the good little boys and girls.  Adults can receive these letters, too!  As a gag, send a letter to an adult to let them know Santa is watching them!  All letters will come with a mini Christmas stocking. Proceeds fund the Roxanne T. Wood Scholarship to benefit a member of Zeta Tau Alpha’s University of Maryland Chapter.

There are two easy ways to order your Letters from Santa - online or via an order form that you can download.  Instructions on payment are detailed on the order forms.

You can order on our website here: Silver Spring ZTA Santa Letter Order Form

We do take Paypal, so ordering online is fairly easy.  We hope that you will help support us and teh Roxanne T. Wood Scholarship.

Thank you!

They asked us to send an email to all of our friends. I thought that this was better... [05 May 2006|11:02am]

cutenspastic
I'm not a big sender of mass emails but this is such a cool thing I couldn't resist.

The company I work for, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, just kicked off one of the coolest contests ever and I thought you might like to enter. Two winners of the contest will receive a 10 day trip from Baton Rouge to LA to Alaska valued at more than $15,000 each.

To understand why this trip is so special, you've got to know the story of how Raising Cane's came to be (for those of you who know this, feel free to skip to the next paragraph). When Todd Graves, the founder and CEO, graduated from college in 1994, his dream was to open a restaurant that served only chicken finger meals. He didn't have a lot of cash to invest so he turned to bankers who basically laughed him out of their offices because in their opinion his idea would never work. Todd decided he'd earn his own money to start his restaurant so he moved to California to work in the refineries. From there, he hitch-hiked to Alaska where he slept in a tent on the frozen tundra for a month until he got a job on a Sockeye Salmon fishing boat. After several months of non-stop work, he came back to Louisiana and used the money he had earned and a small SBA loan to open the first Raising Cane's near the gates of LSU in 1996.

That was 10 years ago and by the end of this year there will be more than 50 Raising Cane's locations in 11 states. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Todd came up with the idea to retrace his original journey but to do it in style this time around. So the contest is to win spots on the trip with him. In total, 15 people will join Todd, including a number of Cane's employees (who are competing in an employee contest), two people from the general public, and a film maker who has decided to shoot a documentary on the Raising Cane's story. Wouldn’t it be something if I one and one of you one, too!

You can find out more information about the contest (and enter, too) at our web site or the contest site:

www.raisingcanes.com

www.raisingcanes.com/trip

Like I said, I work at Cane's but that's not the reason I'm sending this to you. It really will be the trip of a lifetime and I would love for someone I know to win it! Check it out and let me know what you think. And, since I do work at Cane’s, do me a favor and forward this email to every single person in your address book - we want to have entries from around the world!

Silver Spring ZTA Alumnae "Letter from Santa" Fund Raiser [17 Nov 2005|05:53pm]

whimbley
I hope that everyone will help support our Annual "Letter from Santa" fund raiser, the profits of which benefit the Roxanne T. Wood Scholarship fund. I get these for my kids every year and they love them. Thanks!

The calendar may say Fall, but the Alumnae of Silver Spring Zeta Tau Alpha are thinking ahead to Christmas! Delight your child, niece, nephew, or grandchild with a letter from Santa, complete with a North Pole postmark, and support the Roxanne T. Wood Scholarship Fund. This annual scholarship fund benefits a member of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Start by logging onto http://www.silverspringzta.org/santainfo.htm and follow the instructions. Fill out the form so that Santa’s letter will be custom tailored to your child’s interests and accomplishments. Simply submit your form(s) online or mail them with payment to the enclosed address before November 28. You may also pay via PayPal this year – it’s that easy! Your child will receive the personalized letter from Santa along with a Christmas ornament before Christmas

Alumnae Advice? [16 Sep 2005|03:36pm]

[ mood | confused ]

I am part of our alumnae chapter here and I was wondering if you ladies can help me with something.

We don't have that large of an alumnae chapter even though we have many alumna in the area. I was wondering how you keep your alumnae interested - ie, what kind of events do you have, do you participate with the chapter, etc.

Also, active members - how active is your alumnae chapter? Do you see them at all?

Thanks for the insight, everyone.

Weak and Wounded we are not. [30 Aug 2005|07:19am]

"Sorostitues are Weak and Wounded."

I received an e-mail last night from one of my Alumni who is working where this article was written. It is important that girls read and understand what kind of image that they give off from their chapter. Here is a letter from the Chi Omega president of that area in regards to the article.

Alumnae Sisters of Chi Omega,

Today in the Technician, (the N.C. State Newspaper), a staff writer took up issue with all sorority women on N.C. State's campus. The article, entitled "Sorostitutes are Weak and Wounded,"<http://technicianonline.com/story.php?id=012007>  is not only degrading to women in general, but specifically disparaged women in Greek organizations.

The article is clearly unfair and untrue. Please keep an eye on the media, as the story is sure to be covered throughout the state. A press conference has been scheduled for Monday, August 29, 2005.

As you can imagine, Sorority women, Greek Life, the NCSU Women's Center, and Faculty are outraged. Chi Omega Nationals has been alerted, and the Alpha Kappa women are awaiting their response to the article. We are expecting all
NPC organizations to make a formal statement regarding the article, so please do not make personal statements to the media on behalf of Chi Omega.

If you know of young women enrolled at NCSU (or other Universities), please reassure them that Sorority women are talented, intelligent, kind-hearted, community-oriented women,  *not* "Sorostitutes," as the author of the
article claims.

Many thanks,

-S K
President, Raleigh-area Chi Omega Alumnae Group

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if anybody knows where to get an Zeta alumni window sticker. I saw ones on greekgear.com that you can customize to say ZTA Alumni, but I don't like them. I thought I would check here first.

Good luck to the Collegiate chapters with upcoming recruitment!

Circle Ceremonies [19 Jul 2005|04:02am]

luckychick14
[ mood | curious ]

We just had a rush workshop this weekend. And while I was there one of my sisters was talking about hopefully having a circle ceremony really soon. We sing the calling during circle ceremonies, but she was wondering if other chapters sing something else. Like maybe a song about love or guys marrying zetas. So I was just wondering what songs you're chapters sing if they do circle ceremonies.
